Republic Day

 
     
  Republic  Day - 26th January  
     
  This day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India as well as the transition from a British Dominion to a Republic on January 26th 1950.  
     
  Republic Day is a national holiday in India.  
     
  It is celebrated with a grand parade in New Delhi from the Raisina Hill yo the Red Fort.
The parade includes the different regiments of the Army, Navy and Air Force who parade in front of their Commander-in-chief who is also the President of India.
The parade usually finished with a flypast by the Indian Air Force jets.
 
     
  There are also celebrations in the State capitals where the Governor of each state unfurls the national flag.
