A baby hippopotamus that survided the tsunami waves on the Kenyan
coast formed a strong bond with a giant male century-old tortoise in
an animal facility in Mombassa.
The hippo nicknamed Owen weighs about 300 kilograms, it was swept down Sabaki river into the Indian ocean and then swept back by the tidal waves.
The tortoise seems very happy being the hippos mother, they swim, eat and sleep together, the hippo follows the tortoise exactly the way it followed its mother.
The hippo has also become very protective, if anyone goes near the tortoise the hippo becomes very aggressive as if it was protecting its mother.
